PRESS RELEASE
The Young Fresh Fellows are the best band ever. Either you get
it or you don’t. If you think NRBQ is just a funny band,
The Replacements were sloppy, John Coltrane a noodler, Roger Miller
a goofball, Scruffy The Cat a strange name, or Carl Wilson a brother,
you’ve missed the point. Sorry.
On the other hand, you may be one who realized these people all
possess a telling insight which allows listeners to step into
the extraordinary existence of ordinary lives and systems. On
the fence? Pick up a copy and listen to the two versions* of “Teenage
Dogs In Trouble.” We think you’ll agree — they
draw that final distinction between addition and subtraction,
wouldn’t you say?
The songs included on this audio love letter were chosen from
across The Young Fresh Fellows catalog by the artists who recorded
them. We think these interpretations capture the brilliance of
the songs and shine light on the genius of the songwriting by
people inside, outside and around the lives, loves and happiness
of The Young Fresh Fellows compound. You’re forced to revisit
the originals and forced to damn yourself for not including “Rotation”
on your "Best of '89" mix tape. You can’t go back.
Sorry again.
