BIO & DISCOGRAPHY
(by Sara The Monster)

The Young Fresh Fellows formed in 1982. The orginal line up was Scott McCaughy on bass and vocals, Chuck Carrol on guitar, and Tad Hutchison on drums. Scott had been in Dynette Set with his future wife when he decided to start a band with Chuck. Tad was Chuck's cousin and came from Colorado to play drums for the band. They recorded their first album a week after Tad arived, with Conrad Uno at Egg Studios. The album was called "Fablous Sounds of the Pacific Northwest".

Jonny Sangster joined playing bass so Scott could switch to guitar, but he left and was replaced by his brother Jim before the band would record under that line up. When John left he moved to Denmark forming Sharing Patrol. He later moved back to Seattle and joined Jason Finn of The Presidents of the United States of America and brother Jim in The Congratulators

They recorded their second album, "Topsy Turvy" in 1985. The album was reviewed in Rolling Stone and after their third album they moved to California indie label Frontier Records. Later that year they recorded their first EP "Refreshments", and then a year later they recorded "Totally Lost". In 1989 Chuck left the band and was replaced by Kurt Bloch of The Fastbacks. Their next album was "Beans and Tolerence", followed later that year by "This One's for the Ladies".

In the 90's the band slowed down a little, releasing only 4 albums: "Includes a Helmet" in 90', "Electric Bird Digest" in 91', "Take it Like a Matador" in 93' and "A Tribute to Music" in 97. The band is one of the longest running in the Seattle scene.

Jim Sangster IS in Sgt. Major. Along with the Congratulators Jim has played in Blunt Objects, The Picketts, The Squirrels, The Lowebeats, and The Model Rocket's surf project The Infant Kings.

Scott McCaughey has been recording and touring with REM. He is also in Minus Five, The Squirrels, Tuatara, and a Nick Lowe cover band known as The Lowebeats.

Kurt has been seen in Sgt. Major, Once For Kicks and in fine shoe stores everywhere.

Tad is in the Chris and Tad show.
